Francisco Rábago's passion and dedication to his profession means he can't resist anything, not even working on animals.
An unexpected call that changed everything
His journey at the Jerez Zoobotanico began 18 years ago, after receiving a call from his friend Dr. Pepe Arcas, asking if he was capable of operating on a chimpanzee, to which he, without thinking much, replied that he would have no problem.
And so it all began. The animal underwent surgery for a wisdom tooth, a large tumor, and a small fissure at the angle of the jaw.
He recovered perfectly and that was when a close collaboration began that lasts to this day.
Extraordinary cases: from the griffon vulture to a bird with a bionic leg
Among his most notable interventions is the placement of a 3D beak to a griffon vulture ,which came with a birth defect and the creation of a "bionic leg" for an endangered bird, which returned to its natural habitat.
In this last case, he applied bone regeneration techniques used in human patients, with collagen membranes and osteosynthesis screws.
Intervention with a pioneering technique
First, an examination was performed, which revealed all the abnormalities found in the mandrill's teeth.
Thanks to dental technology, Dr. Rábago has performed pioneering treatments such as immediate loading in primates, avoiding second interventions. It has also initiated a 3D virtual library of the mouths of the Zoobotanical species, a unique resource of its kind.
After each intervention, what Dr. Rábago and the entire team at the Jerez Zoobotanical Garden achieve is a better quality of life.
His collaboration with this Jerez zoo remains so active that you rarely find Dr. Rábago at these facilities, performing the occasional checkup with the veterinarians.
Our passion for dentistry goes beyond the human aspect. At RBG Clinic, we believe in innovation, dedication, and continuous improvement to always offer the best to every patient, whether human or animal.
