Why can't I eat cold foods?

Your teeth become sensitive to cold and heat when the soft part inside the tooth called the “dentin” is exposed. This can happen if you have gum disease, as this can lead to gum recession, or if the enamel wears away. This dental discomfort when eating cold foods can also be due to other factors such as a cavity, a cracked or chipped tooth, or a worn filling.
