Gandhi said that "the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Dr. Francisco Rábago's love for animals has been once again evident.
A unique initiative in the world
Dr. Francisco Rábago, renowned dentist and passionate defender of animal welfare, launches a pioneering project alongside the Jerez Zoo and Botanical Garden. The creation of 3D digital models of the teeth of different species to facilitate veterinary diagnosis.
What is this project about?
This new project consists of scanning animal teeth with 3D technology, starting with a primate with prominent fangs, to build a virtual library of oral models to help make more accurate and faster diagnoses in wild or captive animals.
Another step in a collaboration of more than 10 years
Dr. Rábago has been collaborating altruistically with the Jerez Zoo for over a decade. He has manufactured prosthetic beaks and legs for endangered birds, has performed oral surgery on mandrills and is now taking a step further toward technology and conservation. Dr. Rábago's new idea goes further by digitizing in 3D.
With this information, very positive diagnoses of the animals can be provided, in addition to having a library that is unique in the world.
