The screw and the tooth were placed in one area of the face, and immediate loading was performed in the other, which involves performing the entire procedure in one go. This avoided the primate having to undergo another operation. First, an examination was performed, which revealed all the anomalies found in the mandrill's teeth. This examination was performed with a 3D scanner, an innovative and pioneering technique, which was used to create a virtual library of mouth models of all the species at the Jerez Zoo and Botanical Garden.
For Francisco Rábago, a surgical expert at Rbg Clinic, his passion for animals has led him to maintain a close and wonderful collaboration with the zoo for over 20 years. His sole objective is to contribute to the well-being of the animals within. For their part, the Zoo's veterinary team, made up of Miguel Ángel Quevedo and José María Aguilar, stated that "everything went well with the surgery, and with it, we have managed to improve this mandrill's quality of life."
They also thanked Dr. Rábago for his excellent work and professionalism, and especially for his continued selfless support for the Zoo.
